Lana Del Ray

The void of Amy Winehouse's voice might be filled by this little lady.
Self described as a "Gangster Nancy Sinatra".

Visually stunning video - I almost cried through the first half.
My suggestion is not to watch this if you are having an overly-emotional day.

official release date for this single isn't until October but go and listen to it over and over on her official website and get your pre-order on..

Ever been sitting there watching something like Life Aquatic and then Steve sees the shark and the flush of emotion washes over you and the music is swirling and swelling and flooding all around you and you stop and think "hey this is the music of my dreams..."...?

Well the soundtrack to your dreams is obviously the Icelandic phenom band Sigur Ros.
The angel voice within that band is a guy named Jonsi.
I tell ya, this man could be backed by cats in heat and lost racoon babies and he'd still sound like a how a cloud looks, ya follow?

His solo album was out April 2010 and was originally supposed to be a low-key acoustic album. Somehow though the full blown orchestra and angel harps followed him into the studio and made Go something much more than another "unplugged" release.

El Guincho and the hottest music video ever.....

El Guinchos video for their tune "Bombay" came out waayyyyyyyyyyy back in September of last year...

but good visuals never go out of style right?

1 big 80s throwback and sparklers with boobies and flaming rocks in the palm of your hand wrapped in a steel drum bass heavy beat.

Magic. Thank you director Nicolas Mendez

the sprawl

The Arcade Fire. The little band that could. Out of the woodwork winning the 2011 Album Of The Year at the Grammys and 2011 Best International Album at the Brit Awards.
Infectious hooks and sweet melodies have made music supervision for every Canadian beer commercial a non-issue and their last album "The Suburbs" provides all the music you wish your teenage-self was listening to that one summer where it all happened....

Hoping more folks dismiss the Can-Indie-Pop stigma that most Can-Indie-Pop bands have and listen to this album in full, on repeat.

Women from Toronto have always been forward thinking.
Katie Stelmanis is no exception. Moving from acoustic to electronic as Austra, the upcoming album Feel It Break will be eaten up like poutine on Saturday at 3:38am.
